WHAT... The Walking Art Project

The Walking Art Project is multi-piece exhibit as part of Grand Rapids, Michigan's ArtPrize® 2014 completion.  It is comprised of up to 25 walking sticks and canes, each of which is both functional and a work of art.

Created as a tribute to the men and women of the US Armed Forces who were disabled in the course of their service, it represents the journey back to wholeness both physically and spiritually.

It is a partnership between the artist and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), a nationally recognized organization which advocates for disabled veterans.

The exhibit will be available for public viewing at the Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital from September 24 - October 12, 2014 during the following hours:
  • Mon-Thurs   5:00pm-8:00pm
  • Fri & Sat    12:00pm-8:00pm
  • Sunday       12:00pm-6:00pm
At the end of Art Prize the individual pieces will be given to the DAV who will distribute them to disabled vets. In addition, visitors will have the opportunity to give tax-deductible donations directly to the DAV. Special consideration will be given to those donating over $100.
